Resettlement and tenancy support
Our Resettlement Workers ensure eligible individuals are signed up for social housing; they offer advice on accommodation and assist individuals moving into new homes. Resettlement Workers ensure all necessary paperwork is completed and utilities are connected. They also provide low level support in the early
days of the tenancy and offer referrals to other agencies where a higher level of support may be needed.
Floating support/Managed flats
This scheme provides assured accommodation and other services for people who have experienced homelessness and move on from Solas temporary accommodation. For people with enduring mental health or other problems we offer floating support. We work to ensure people sustain their tenancy, live independently and integrate into their local community.
In partnership with Charter Housing (also part of the Seren Group) we provide 15 self contained flats in three properties in Clarence Place and Chepstow Road Newport. The scheme offers nine bed-spaces with floating support, funded through Supporting People.
Clinical Psychology Service
Solas has funding for a new and unique Gwent wide psychology service. Working alongside our highly qualified support staff, the senior clinical psychologist will provide:
- Psychological support, including group and/or individual work, group supervision and training for staff. Our teams work with vulnerable people, often with multiple needs, including those with psychotic episodes, personality disorders, substance misuse issues and forensic histories. Services are delivered either in the community or within a residential setting.
- Deliver evidence based psychological treatments and monitor outcomes.
- Work closely with psychologists with Gwent NHS Trust and assistants within the Solas network to develop a psychologically informed mental health practice.
- Contribute to the development of new psycho-social services within Solas and the Gwent Healthcare Trust and to participate in service planning teams as appropriate
