Sola Go karting….

Forget Monaco and the rest of the world famous Grand Prix, last week more than 30 residents and staff from around Solas Newport supported accommodation schemes battled it out to find their very own Lewis Hamilton, during what turned out to be a highly competitive afternoon at the track. Solas residents displayed consistent levels of skill, speed, bravery and determination to clinch the top three places on the winner’s podium; staff didn’t really get much of a look in!! The event took place as part of the reward system currently running at the schemes and is funded by The Big Lottery – Awards for All.

A few of the people who we support have been asked to share their thoughts about the day with you:

I had an amazing day and I would love to do it all again. I am happy to see that hard work pays off and we have been rewarded for taking part in meaningful activities. I would also like to add that I did not lose one race and was crowned Go-Karting Champion” – Declan

“Would like to thank the staff of Solas for organising an amazing day out, it’s not often we get opportunities like that” – Rhys

I went Go-Karting today it was a good day and we got to bond with the staff and other residents in the Solas Hostels. Hope that I can go again one day” – Christian

“I went Go-Karting, at first I was scared, but got the hang of it, it was amazing and I loved it” – Shanice

“I thought Go-Karting was amazing, everyone got on and had a wicked time” – Sophie

A really big thank you to all the staff who ensured the day went as planned.
