Monmouthshire Young Person’s Scheme celebrates 6 years
Monmouthshire Young Person’s Scheme provides supported accommodation for homeless young people in the Monmouthshire area. Woodstock House, Abergavenny, was opened in March 2005 and Hill House, Chepstow opened in May 2005.
Both Woodstock House and Hill House support young people between the ages of 16 and 24 years of age, who find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Young people are encouraged to engage in education, training, employment and volunteering initiatives and receive tenancy support. Staff hold workshops twice weekly, aimed at encouraging clients to experience a wide range of activities, including budgeting and life skills. Regular quiz and Bingo nights are also held and there are plenty of opportunities to explore the arts.
Now in its 6th year, MYPS is celebrating by hosting an open day on Thursday, 30 June between 10:00am and 2:00pm. There will be a range of activities such as:
- raffles
- a car wash
- a guessing game
- cake stall
- art workshop
- T-shirt Designing
- BBQ
- and a tour of the scheme.
