Back On My Feet

Breathe it all in

Our message is simple, by putting one foot in front of another we can leave homelessness behind.

Through the power of exercise, we can restore confidence, strength and determination.

We’re fundraising to provide opportunities to inspire and challenge people to change their lives.

With new found self-esteem, individuals are better equipped to master the road ahead and move on towards employment, having a home they can call their own and restarting a healthy new life with positive relationships.

Wearing our blisters like badges

Our Back On My Feet campaign aims to take huge strides in stamping out homelessness and provide practical training and employment resources for achieving independence; an environment that promotes accountability and a community that offers compassion and hope.

The path is never easy, but with help and support along the way, we can move mountains.

The view from the top

It’s these types of ‘views’ that make it all worth while.

Learning to improve our self-confidence can help us to meet our goals and to find the success that we want in life. Having confidence helps us to take on challenges, to focus on our goals, and to make better choices. Without strong self-esteem, we are more likely to take a passive approach to life, to make excuses for not going after our goals, and to become apathetic about our future.

Exercise promotes a sense of accomplishment by helping us to meet small, successive goals. There is always opportunity to set our sights higher and to meet new goals. Each time we succeed, we get a sense of accomplishment and improve our self-confidence.

Our Back On My Feet programme allow our clients to meet new people and create new friendships, try new things and push their boundaries.

 Street Football Wales

Solas and Gwalia clients make up some of the Street Football teams. Teams are made up of players who face social exclusion through homelessness, substance misuse, mental ill health or cultural issues. Players may have been long term unemployed or involved in the criminal justice system but all are facing daily barriers to be part of society and the communities in which they live.

SFW provides a platform for people who are socially excluded, building on their confidence, self-esteem, health, fitness and providing social integration through football.

For many, fighting for acceptance and constantly facing rejection and discrimination has left them feeling as though their only option is to give up.

Homeless Rugby

The Team is the first of its kind in Wales and kicked off with a Win at Rodney Parade against Worcester Warriors Homeless Rugby Team, who had been established several years previously.

Newport Gwent Dragons are putting together a team to represent Wales in a Nations Cup.

Solas clients will pull out all the stops to make every training session and the side, this is a brilliant opportunity to play against representing teams from the rest of the UK.

Donations & Support

We’re fundraising to provide opportunities to inspire and challenge people to change their lives.

We have a mountain to climb, and we can’t do it alone. We ask of those with the capacity to help—volunteers, donors, community and commissioners—to support us in this profound experience of empowering individuals to achieve what once seemed impossible.

We rely on private donations and public funding to support people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, we are asking you to donate whatever you can afford to our Back On My Feet campaign.

You can donate to our charity by clicking the purple donate buttons or by texting FEET17 followed by the amount you wish to donate, to 70070.

As an example, to donate £5, you would text the following to 70070: FEET17 £5

All the money you donate goes to us, and your network provider does not charge you for the SMS you send to make the donation.

We don’t have a target amount that we are aiming to raise, but would like to try and raise as much as we possibly can.
